A. Children between the ages of 4 - 11 years of age are all invited! Musical knowledge and experience is not mandatory, but a true desire to participate and work hard is important! Q. When are rehearsals?
A. Rehearsals begin just before the conclusion of Sunday morning services (services begin at 10:30) and last approximately 30 minutes between the months of September and May. Typically you will be able to pick up your child no later that 12:15p.m. So, parents can attend worship while their children attend the excellent worship enrichment. Children who participate in children's choir will be picked up by Mr. Curt and taken to the choir room for rehearsal. While children are rehearsing, parents are invited to participate in fellowship in our narthex with coffee and treats. Children will be picked up by their parents in the choir room. The choir does not rehearse on Sundays where they sing in service. Check the schedule page for specifics on rehearsals. Q. How often to the children sing in service?
A. This 2011-2012 year, the children will sing 7 times. Check out the schedule page for specifics on service offerings. Q. My family is quite busy and may not be able to commit to rehearsal every single week, or we are going to be out of town over some weekends. Can my child still participate if they are not at 100% of rehearsals?
A. Consistency in rehearsal and participation is critical to any music ensemble, but realistically children and families are busier than ever. Rehearsal CDs will be available to members to help practice at home, and each song will have a page on this wiki with information about lyrics, text, and music expression (all which are important for children to understand - we are offering service music to God and the congregation, not just singing songs at a concert). If you would like your child to participate but are concerned about the time commitment, please feel free to contact Mr. Curt to discuss options. Each song will be rehearsed approximately 8 weeks prior to singing in service, so a missed rehearsal or two (if practice CDs are being used at home), will not negatively impact the ensemble. Q. When do rehearsals start? Where will rehearsals be held?
A. We will begin Children's Choir rehearsals Sunday, September 11th, 2011 in the choir room on the second floor of the education building (up the stairs in the Narthex, take a left down the ramp and follow the noise straight ahead to the choir room. Q. I would like my child to participate in the Children's Choir at Central Presbyterian Church! How can I get my child signed up?
A. Signing up is easy. Just contact Mr. Curt at curt@central.com or find him after worship service in the choir room. Q. Who is Mr. Curt?
